Debbie Meyer
Gym Owner - Team Director
Debbie is a former Canadian National Team member who also competed for California State University, Fullerton. She has coached a number of National Team members while at Elevate Gymnastics Academy and has been the co-head coach for our girl's team for over 15 years. In 2006 she was the Northern California Girl's Optional Coach of the Year. Additionally, she is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with an A.A. Degree in Physical Therapy and a B.S. Degree in Physical Education.
Rick Weaver
CFO - Boys Program Director
Rick is the Boys Program director and Boys Level 6 and 7 Team Coach. He is a former gym owner and has been a Director at Elevate Gymnastics Academy since 2008. He has had fifteen years of coaching experience and has developed a number of top competitors for our boy's programs. As a testament to his coaching success, he was named the Level 7 Boys Northern California Coach of the Year for 2012.
GYMNASTICS COACHES
Our staff includes some of the highest trained and most qualified instructors anywhere! From the recreational through the Olympic level, coaches are trained and certified in First Aid, CPR and Safety.
Safety training is administered through USA Gymnastics, the governing body of the sport. Elevate Gymnastic Academy's main requirement for the staff is that they love children!
Mas Watanabe
Technical Director
Mas is currently a member of the USA Gymnastics Women's Coaching Staff, serving in that role for the past 15 years. Prior to that, he was the assistant coach for the UC Berkeley Men's Team, and one of USA Gymnastics National Team Coaches for men. He was instrumental in the early development of the Jr. National Team program for boys. He is a former all around gymnast for the Japanese National Team and is a highly sought after clinician for gymnastics programs across the country.
Ron Howard
Boy's Team Head Coach
Ron is a former California State University, Fullerton gymnast with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education and a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology. Ron has been coaching for over 35 years and was a member of both the junior and senior National Coaching Staff. He has coached 15 National Team members, 8 World Championship Team members, 3 USA Gymnastics Hall of Famers, and 3 Olympic Team members. Over 56 of his gymnasts have received gymnastics scholarships to accredited universities. Ron has been with Elevate Gymnastics Academy since 2006.
Sandy McGee
Pre-School/Recreational Director
Sandy has been a member of Elevate Gymnastics Academy longer than anyone in its history - 23 years. She has taught pre-school and recreational classes during that time and is now one of the co-directors for the pre-school and recreational programs. She has been involved in the sport of gymnastics for nearly 30 years. During her off hours, she enjoys racquetball and golf and spending time with her family. She also does extensive physical education and gymnastics work with children with special needs
Barbara Osaki
Pre-School/Recreational Director
Barbara has been at Elevate Gymnastics Academy for the past 12 years. She has been teaching gymnastics for 37 years, running her own program for many years. She has taught it all - pre-school, recreational and team programs. A former gymnast at California State University, Sacramento, she has had three of her own children continue in her footsteps as gymnasts, one of whom is currently on the California State University, Sacramento Women's Gymnastics Team.
